What is Type 2 Diabetes?
Type 2 diabetes is a serious condition where the insulin in your body doesn’t function properly, or the pancreas isn’t making enough of it. This results in your glucose (sugar) levels reaching high levels on a regular basis. Which is why it is so important that insulin is produced correctly, as it performs the essential task of allowing the glucose in our blood to enter our cells and fuel our body. For patients with type 2 diabetes, their pancreas will continue to produce ineffective insulin, which can tire the pancreas out as it continues to detect high levels of glucose in the body. If sugar levels reach too high, this can put patients at risk of hyperglycemia.
